Prince was in Glastonbury 2016 special slot talks before his death

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has revealed that Prince was in talks to appear at this year's incarnation of the festival before his tragic death.

Eavis had planned a meeting with his agent over a special slot on the Pyramid Stage.

"I was going to meet his agent, it was all planned but it didn't happen," Eavis said in an interview. "His death was so sad. That's a real star that we never had."

It has been suggested in the past that Prince was going to headline the festival in 2014 before cancelling and being subsquently replaced by Metallica.
