Purple Rain added to US National Film Registry
Every year the US Library of Congress adds twenty five films to the National Film Registry, which ensures they will be preserved for as long as we have visual media. They are selected for being culturally significant movies, so think that seed bank which will ensure the planet can recover from a nuclear winter, only with gangsters.
Why are we mentioning this? Because Purple Rain, the Prince starring and Prince soundtracked musical, has made it in, ensuring the purple one will be viewable well beyond the Trumpocalypse of 2022.
It’s gone in alongside a Spike Lee joint and a Martin Scorsese definitely not a superhero movie. Good company. For them.
