Trent Reznor has been interviewed by the New Yorker, and in it we learn a Nine Inch Nails greatest hits compilation is on the way, with the obligatory ‘rope in the fans’ extra tracks, and an entirely new Nails album will follow after that. There’s also news on what Reznor is doing with Beats by Dre, and it doesn’t look like headphones with spikes on. No, they’re working on a music streaming service called Daisy.
No, really, the code name is Daisy,.
That will surely change. So what’s different about it? Reznor isn’t a huge fan of Spotify which had millions of songs but little way to explore it, so Daisy "uses mathematics to offer suggestions to the listener... would present choices based partly on suggestions made by connoisseurs, making it a platform in which the machine and the human would collide more intimately."
Or more simply "like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn't necessarily have encountered." Just license it outside the US yeah Trent?
