Rosanne says she’s not racist, just a creative genius
Rosanne was fired from her eponymous sitcom in May for making a racist remark, which proved the cherry on a very large cake of intolerance from her. Now she’s trying to claw her way back, and has appeared on home of the racist Fox News.
So what does she offer by way of an apology? Well there’s the thing. We do believe people should be allowed to learn and grow, but her interview reveals she’s done neither, and still thinks comparing someone to a monkey isn’t racist.
“If [Ms Jarret] is watching, I’m so sorry you thought I was racist, and that you thought my tweet was racist…. I’m sorry that you feel harmed and hurt. I never meant that and I apologise for saying anything negative about an entire race of people.” Our bullshit detector tells us this translates as please give me my old job back.
Then she comes out with more bilge: “I am a creative genius, and this is not a good feeling for an artist to be treated this way, and it’s not a good feeling for a citizen, either.” But the peak comes when she tries to trade her own background in: “everybody started saying I was racist, which is like the worst thing you can call a Jewish person.”
It really isn’t.
