Sinead O’Connor makes bold and heartbreaking plea over mental health
This news story could have had a number of attention grabbing headlines, and has in other places on the web by other people. The news that Sinead O’Connor has posted a strange, dark video to Facebook in which she admits to being suicidal and almost alone has been used as a stick with which to beat up clicks. But if you watch the whole video, you’ll see a plea, a bold and heart breaking plea over mental health, loneliness care and help.
Let’s give you some quotes:
"I am now living in a motel in New Jersey. I'm all by myself…Mental illness, it's like drugs, it doesn't given a shit who you are, and equally what's worse, the stigma doesn't give a shit who you are… I’m fighting, fighting, fighting…
"I want everyone to know what it's like, that's why I'm making this video… I am one of millions...one of fucking millions… people who suffer from mental illness are the most vulnerable people on earth, we can't take care of fucking selves ourselves, idiots, you've got to take care of us…"
And that’s been taken to mean many things. But as someone who heard those words and knew exactly what that was like, I find it bold and encouraging to know someone like Sinead says you’re not alone. Of course, we hope help comes for Sinead as quickly as possible.
