Sly Stone was the mainman in Sly and the Family Stone, and you know that means great songs and highly influential songwriting. But he appears to have ditched the large homes he used to live in, and now occupies just a camper van parked in Crenshaw, the part of LA where Boyz in the Hood was filmed. Stone insists this location is his choice, telling the New York Post "I like my small camper. I just do not want to return to a fixed home. I cannot stand being in one place. I must keep moving."
But it’s also become apparent he has to shower at the home of a local family who also make sure Sly eats his meals. This is looking like tragic eccentricity. On the plus side, Sly is still writing, and claims to have hundreds of tracks artists could use if only they’d come and ask. In fact, he appealed to Gaga to come get some. He certainly wouldn’t be outwardrobed.
