Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore writes a song about London alt-haunt Stoke Newington

Thurston Moore has become quite the anglophile. He moved to Stoke Newington a few months back, and it's been on the tip of most East Londoners' tongues ever since. Moore has now decided to release a song about the area he calls "Stokey".

If he'd moved there about 20 months ago when it was so much better, and much less self aware, he'd have seen an area which was both undeniably fruitful and had a good atmosphere.

Moore is releasing a limited edition 7'' in February 2014 too. The First track, “Detonation” is said to “pay homage to N16 London libertarian and communitarian activists” while the other, “Germs Burn”, is “a celebration shout to punk rock secret society love”.

Interesting.
