Steven Seagal taken out of festival line-up for Putin friendship

There are some things that you don't know about Steven Seagal. He plays white man, ponytail, 'what have you got to moan about?' blues, and he supports his friend Vladimir Putin, which has cost him his spot at an Estonian music festival.

Seagal has even spoken up about Russia's annexation of Crimea. He cited a "desire to protect the Russian-speaking people of Crimea, his assets, and the Russian Black Sea military base in Sevastopol" as being "very reasonable". In the past he has described him as "one of the great living world leaders" and somebody he "would like to consider him as a brother".

Estonian foreign minister Urmas Paet, musician Tonis Magi and organisers have made it very clear that Seagal wasn't welcome.

"We hoped the Estonian public would first and foremost see Steven Seagal as an actor and a musician. It turns out what they saw was rather a politician and a henchman," festival director Indrek Ditman said. "To many in Estonia, it came as a major surprise that the action movie hero is a blues musician. Likewise, the organisers and numerous others were unpleasantly surprised by his political views and public statements."
