Study finds UK vinyl buyers are lonely, middle-aged introverts

When you hear the talk of the vinyl revolution, you cast your mind to a brigade of fiery upstarts, shaking their fists and nodding their heads. However, a study has found that the average vinyl buyer in 2016 is not quite that.

This UK study conducted by YouGov shows some surprising demographics. The research shows the age range of the majority of vinyl buyers to be between 45 and 54, with 18 to 24-year-olds least likely to buy their albums on wax.

It also found that they are more likely to be music obsessives, with 66% of them saying they couldn’t get through the day without listening to music, compared to 49% of UK adults in general. Futhermore, 59% of vinyl buyers said that downloading music illegally is wrong.

And lastly, the study revealed vinyl obsessives are lonely introverts, with 56% of them preferring to keep their feelings to themselves and a gigantic 69% say they enjoy being alone.
