Sugababes a Singer Down? Replacement Ready?

It’s been a while since the Sugababes – who, along with Girls Aloud, helped change pop from utterly terrible into camply enjoyable - have changed members, but the time might be nigh. Rumours have been circulating over the weekend that Amelle Berrabah, the most recent Sugababe to join the group, has quit and is being replaced Jade Ewen. The latter is best known to UK readers as the singer of the British entry in this year’s Eurovision, yunno, the one that didn’t win. However, 48 hours of updates haven’t produced a clear picture, with gossip site Heatworld claiming to have spoken to those close to both Amelle and Jade, with the latter saying she’s in, and the former not saying she’s out. Intriguingly, NME (yes, they’re reporting on this too, it’s not just us) dug out a statement from Jade’s old record company saying "Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that Jade Ewen will be taking time off from all promotional activity for the foreseeable future." Which could mean ‘I’ve buggered off and joined a new group’, or ‘I’ve got swine flu’.
