Susan Boyle diagnosed with Asberger's

Susan Boyle has revealed that she saw a specialist a year ago, who discovered she has Asberger's,

"I have Asperger's," she said. "It is a relief."

She continued: "Asperger's doesn't define me. It's a condition that I have to live with and work through, but I feel more relaxed about myself.

"People will have a greater understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do."

Boyle admitted that she has become frustrated in the past with Media outlets who have falsely labelled her condition.

She said: "Some articles have said I have brain damage. It's been something else. I have always known that I have had an unfair label put upon me.

"I never know if people are genuine. I would say I have relationship difficulties, communicative difficulties, which lead to a lot of frustration. If people were a bit more patient, that would help."

Chief Executive Mark Lever of The National Autistic Society said: "Asperger syndrome is a form of autism, which affects the way a person communicates with, and relates to others.

Boyle is the latest famous face to sign up to support Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day campaign. She joins celebrities including Rochelle Humes, Myleene Klass and Lauren Laverne to promote the fundraiser, which urges people to dress up in festive knitwear on December 13 and donate £1 or more to support some of the world's most vulnerable children.
