The Game courts controversy with album cover

Guess what, it's upsetting people.

Rapper The Game was baptized in 2011 and now has the tricky job of squaring what the church taught, with what they now do, and with what he does. This would be difficult for anyone, but The Game has gone for it in a pretty big way with his cover for album Jesus Piece. It features a mock stained glass window with a gold chain wearing, gangster looking (is covering your mouth with a bandana ever anything other than dodgy?) fellow where you’d normally find an image of Jesus or a saint.

Did we mention the marijuana leaves as well?

Needless to say, and presumably entirely as intended, the image has upset Christian conservatives in the US, but Game explained it thus: "I still love the strip club and I still smoke and drink. I'm faithful to my family, so I wanted to make an album where you could love God and be of God, but still get it poppin' in your life." It’s certainly a striking image.
