Cast your minds back to July 2009... new Manchester band The Paris Riots had just won Supajam's “Fast Track To Benicassim” competition and had flown to Valencia to play live at the legendary Spanish festival. When The Paris Riots kicked off their set in the giant tent at Benicassim they immediately packed out the stage at the festival with over 5000 new fans flocking into the tent to see their gig. Since then, the band have been writing furiously, recording demo's, developing their sound and playing live across the UK which has led to an impressive tally of 12 festival dates around the UK & Europe this summer.
In December last year the band grabbed the attention of some high profile producers in America, who invited them over to the States to record and work with Grammy nominated producer Johnny K (Plain White T's, Staind) at NightBird recording studios housed in the basement of the legendary Sunset Marquis hotel, West Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Having decided to work on their SupaJam winning song, 'The Indian’ and the haunting acoustic song 'Vampire in the Sun' The Paris Riots flew to LA, hung out at the Sunset Marquis and worked for 3 days arranging the songs and recording. SupaJam was there too...
Boosted by this unique experience, The Paris Riots returned to the UK with a new confidence and embarked on a Spring Tour which saw them play to more and more people culminating in a home coming show at Manchester’s famous Deaf Institute where they became the first unsigned band to sell out this legendary venue. Their 2010 festival season kicked off at Hop Farm and will see The Paris Riots play a host of festivals throughout the UK including The Relentless Boardmasters festival in Newquay , Bug Jam 24 and Kendal Calling in the Lake District as well as a return slot at Benicassim on 15th July at 19.30 opening the festival and the Main Stage for Kasabian.
