The Smiths are 'never ever going to reunite'

Moz's people have flat denied any chance of a Smiths reunion

"The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite – ever."

We'd say that sounded fairly conclusive, and it's straight from the mouth of Mozzers publicist. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the rep was scotching persistant rumours of a Smith's reunion, most recently in relation to a mooted appearence at next years Coachella Festival. These rumours were fuelled to some degree by Morrissey's own comments in an interview with the Herald Sun, where he revelead that "agents for Coachella offered a 100-per-cent vegetarian event for the following year if I would agree to headline with Johnny Marr as the Smiths. Fascinatingly they made it clear that they would 'not require' the Smiths' bass player or drummer ... which I thought certainly said something.."

Morrissey's people are remaining tight lipped on the specific reasons for the emphatic reunion denials, only offering that "You'd have to ask Morrissey that. There's got to be a story there, and maybe one day it will be told."

Johnny Marr himself told the NME earlier in the year that the band would get back together if the current coalition government called it a day.

"We won't be reforming this week," he said

"Maybe if the government stepped down. If this government stepped down, I'll reform the band. How's that? That's a fair trade, isn't it? I think the country would be better off, don't you? I'll do it if the coalition steps down."

So again, that's pretty much a zero chance of a reunion....
