The Strokes were bitter about The Killers and Mr Brightside
Lizzy Goodman’s new book Meet Me in the Bathroom: Rebirth and Rock and Roll in New York City, 2001–2011 is shaping up to be good fun, and the promo that’s firing up the web today comes courtesy of the Strokes, and a bitterness towards another successful band.
It turns out, The Strokes were pissed off about The Killers and why they were doing so well. Here’s the former’s guitarist Nick Valensi: “We had conversations that went along the lines of ‘Gosh, I think our songs are better than ‘Mr. Brightside’ by the Killers, but how come that’s the one everyone is listening to?'”.
We believe everything except the band using the word gosh. Ironically the Killers have spoken of being depressed at comparing themselves to the Strokes, so it looks like both bands fed off each other.
