There’s a musical about sitcom Friends
News coming across the web today: a musical based on classic 90s sitcom Friends will open in New York this autumn. Now, apparently this version is based on a musical originally shown in Chicago, and isn’t officially licensed to Friends but is a satire on the show.

A satire? Well, it has songs called things like ‘The One Where We Make A Million Dollars An Episode’ and ‘The Only Coffee Shop in New York’, so yeah. It’s also off Broadway, and is written by Bob and Tobly McSmith who have a history of skewering popular culture.

If you’re interested, keep an eye on the Triad Theatre for tickets, possibly on sale in June.

Note to fans: yes we know it ran into the 2000s, but it had stopped being as good.
