Picture the scene: we’re working our way through blogs looking for mentions of new music, when we come across William Fitzsimmons doing a live acoustic version of Centralia, sheltered from the sun near some trees. At this point we know nothing about him, and what we find is staggeringly beautiful.
Utterly sublime, but deeply sad.
And as we look him up, we’re gripped with the fear that nothing else he does will ever match this triumph.
Anyway, Centralia (plugged in) is out on the Lions LP due February 18th. If you like it explore his attached YouTube channel, where he’s got a whole album. And please, let that acoustic version come out as a (legal) download somewhere.
