Weezer will soon be putting out a new album, and just to complete the lifestyle experience for alt. rock fans they’ve got a clothing line coming out in association with a company called Hurley. Indeed, the band played a special gig for Hurley to promote things. So imagine our surprise to learn that the new album is being called… Hurley. Fans smelt a sell out, and when their guitar player said the band had been paid to use that name the axes weren’t just being sharpened, they were being hurled at full force towards Rivers Cuomo’s cranium. But the band have now clarified things, saying that the guitarist was wrong, it’s all a coincidence, and the album really is named after cover star Hurley from Lost. We almost believe them.
