Young Fathers invited back to festival that axed them over Israel Boycott

Young Fathers invited back to festival that axed them over Israel Boycott
It takes a brave band to criticise the apartheid policy of Israel, a state that is currently engaged in the mass murder of Palestinian protestors, and when Young Fathers joined the BDS Movement – a peaceful cultural boycott of Israel – a German Festival threw them off the bill.

Now, however, Ruhrtriennale Festival has invited the band back, although it appears only very begrudgingly. “I wish to be able to invite a band such as the Young Fathers for their music and their lyrics – although I personally completely reject the boycott strategy of the BDS,” said RF’s artistic director. “As a German, it is, of course, difficult for me to be linked to a movement that boycotts Israel, but I have invited the Young Fathers and not the BDS.”

Unfortunately for the festival, Young Fathers are in demand and now can’t make the date – and why would they, they’ve been getting on with things.
