Amanda Palmer Sings: Drop Me

Last year Amanda Palmer, singer and keyboardist of the rock-cabaret mix Dresden Dolls (I hesitate to use the word cult to describe them) released a solo album on Roadrunner Records. And there were some damn fine, if very darkly humoured, tracks on it. Unfortunately the relationship between artist and label became strained, and Palmer has recently played live a song entitled “Please Drop Me”. I can’t really repeat the sample lyrics on a family friendly site…but I’m sure you can imagine. Much of the tension stems from an incident when Roadrunner allegedly tried to re-edit a music video to remove shots of Palmer’s stomach, which they apparently thought was too “fat” for whatever fanbase they were aiming her at - presumably not her own.
