Flowers Hits Out At Cobain

In an interview with Britain’s Daily Star, Brandon Flowers of the Killers hit out at Kurt Cobain and the grunge scene he led because it “took the fun out of rock ’n roll.” Flowers was talking about how the American music scene hasn’t been as receptive to the new Killers album as Britain and elsewhere, a move he seems to blame on Cobain and company setting the scene in US music for the last fifteen years. Yes, Cobain killed himself, and that was bound to have a ripple effect, but one lasting fifteen years? Flowers goes on to add that he thinks times are changing in the US: “it’s starting to become a lot more playful and brighter.” Given that he looked like an extra for a camp remake of Mad Max 2 in his last video, he must be hoping so.
