Peter Andre Only #4; UK Music Scene Saved

In the mid part of last week, sales figures suggested that Peter Andre, a man whose reborn pop career was entirely dependent on a messy public break-up with a topless model, would reach the top of the British singles chart. This would have marked either a new low for the British record buying public, or a new high for the effects of public sympathy, depending on your point of view. A late week surge stopped this, returning the Black Eyed Peas to the top, and this time they did it with a song that actually seemed to have some lyrics beyond a 1960s Batman episode (younger readers will probably find episodes on YouTube, but we advise restraint. Camp can kill).
