Phil Spector Guilty of Murder

Phil Spector, the legendary music producer behind a string of 1960s hits (try “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” by The Righteous brothers) and pioneer of the “Wall of Sound” technique, has been found guilty of second degree murder at his trial in the US. The court was convinced he had shot and killed Lana Clarkson in February 2003; he claimed she killed herself over her declining career. He faces possible life imprisonment. Spector has been seen as an increasingly eccentric figure since his musical heyday, and the court case alleged he had a long history of using guns to threaten people. A first trial, in 2007, failed to come to a unanimous verdict.
