Smashing Pumpkins Live and Angry

Ah, Billy Corgan, an angry but talented man. This week he and former Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin played an acoustic set on US television show the Chris Isaak Hour. Backed by horns and violin, and at one point Isaak, they played four tunes. The pair were also interviewed by Isaac, and they took a few potshots at people, including Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who Corgan called not “necessarily the nicest person”; indeed, he said their relationship was unusual because “the night I threw Courtney Love out of my apartment is the night she famously walked down the street and ended up in his bed.” Chamberlain also had a dig at former bandmates James Iha and Darcy Wretzky, suggesting their only contributions were fashion because they couldn’t play properly. Should you wish to join Corgan as a drummer (who presumably can play), auditions will be held soon.
