The new Dizzee mixtape is an hour of chaotic UK street music, cop it here

As with last year’s Dirtee TV 1, Dizzee’s latest free mixtape is a return to the ruffneck, all aggy lyrics spat and vicious, bass heavy street beats. Dizzee’s contributions remind you why he’s the biggest MC in England, bar none - his voice and flow rip chunks out of riddims, boisterous, cocky, funny and murderous. He keeps hinting at a big pop album in the works, but with the two volumes of Dirtee TV proving such straight up thrills, who cares? I’ll take the Raskit who can deliver a line as tongue-in-cheek funny and stupidly aggressive as “If you take my bass away// I’ll blow your fucking face away” over the lumbering bollocks of Dirtee Disco any day.

Guest spots come from D Double E –excellent as ever – P Money, Footsie, Merky Ace, and a bunch of others. The whole hour is, again, quick mixed by DJ MK ‘actually mixing like a DJ’s supposed to’ as Dizzee points out early on. Tracks fly in, never hanging round for more than a couple of minutes, lurching from dubstep screeches to house thump, to skyrise hip hop in a barely controlled chaos of bass. If there was any justice in the world, all the new English MCs making drab, American aping hip hop sludge would be pointed firmly in the direction of Dirtee TV 2, another timely reminder from Dizzee and crew how UK street music can be; exhilarating, punk as fuck and bursting with dark, violent joy.
