Single Review: The Milk B Roads

Geezer soul that souds suspiciously like the band didn't play on any part of the single. I don't like it, it'll probably be massive

Here come The Milk then with their ‘geezer’ soul. Sounding like a low rent mix of Cee-Lo Green and Vic Reeves pretending to be a cabaret singer, they’ve got a whole load of major label backing, so their probably gonna be everywhere in 2012. Personally I can’t get on with supposedly scally bands suddenly appearing out of nowhere on a huge label. The Libertines – RoughTrade; Oasis – Creation; The Sex Pistols, thrown off both EMI and A&M before signing with a then still independent Virgin--  all genuine hell raising rock stars who had to be on indie labels because they were too much grief for a major to touch. These guys - Sony.

So I guess this jaunty number where The Milk sing about how they have to do everything in an underground way (taking the B Roads - geddit??) is nice enough, but let’s be honest lads, you’re not on the B Roads, are you? You’re waltzing up the fucking M25 in a Sony sponsored limo, heading direct to T4 mansions and, if you’re lucky, a godawful million selling charity single with Frankie Cocozza this time next year. Sheesh. Make of it what you will.
